PDF/A for legal and accounting archives

Accounting documents and contracts must often be kept for many years, the exact period depending on the country and the type of document. PDF/A makes sure they will still open properly. It doesn't by itself prove that a document hasn't been altered: that is the role of electronic signatures and time-stamps. PDFly's PDF to PDF/A tool is in development and will be free.
