Guide · OCR PDF
Make a scanned PDF searchable
A scanned PDF contains pictures of pages, not text: searching finds nothing and you can't copy a sentence. OCR (optical character recognition) adds a text layer that makes it searchable. Recognition quality depends heavily on the scan: straight pages, good contrast and 300 dpi help. PDFly's OCR tool is in development and will be free.
